Lauren’s Birthday Party at SuperPark Singapore

We had such a blast at the Super Park last weekend where we celebrated Lauren’s birthday and she had so much fun with her friends! I have also received so many questions when I shared about the party on my IG stories thus I thought I would share more with you guys here.

The last time we had a birthday party for Lauren was held years ago in a function room at our condominium. Although we had more guests then, the cost of preparing for the home party was also rather high as we had to include for the cake table set up, party decorations, buffet, door gifts and professionals to conduct activities (such as balloon sculpting, magic show, etc.) to entertain the kids. I recalled that the amount of time and effort we went through was crazy. Honestly, we are very drained with our time this year (due to work and the new house construction) even as we thought of organising a birthday party for Lauren. So when we chanced upon the idea of “outsourcing” this entire planning effort of time, venue, food, fun, etc, the thought of Super Park came right into our mind! We had witnessed and experienced it as one of the most hippy venue where kids can enjoy to the fullest in a safe and secure environment. Most importantly, we could leave everything to the park organiser who also planned a few party hosts to lead the party and take care of the kids at the play land!

We selected the Freestyle Package on a weekend and kept the number of guests to a maximum of 25 pax. Do be reminded that any child below the age of 8 years old must ALWAYS be accompanied and supervised by a responsible guardian (aged 18 or above) with paid and valid admission – this may be of consideration when planning for the invitations. While the kiddos were having their fun with their party hosts, we invited the parents of the older kids to chill in the party room.

The package included a 45min of hosted activities and 1 hour usage of the party room. The admitted guests could re-enter the park after the party ended if they wished to maximise the play time up till the closing time.  Some of the common questions we received were:

  1. Can parents join in without being part of the package? – All guests entering the play area require a ticket. Parents are always welcome to chill in the party room while the kids are playing in the play zone. There are also designated seating areas outside the party room. Otherwise, there are plenty of cafés in Suntec City!
  2. Are we allowed to decorate the SuperPark party room? – Yes! Even though the party rooms are pre-decorated with themed walls, SuperPark allows decorations in their party rooms. Do note that only use of blue tacks are allowed.
  3. Are we allowed to bring in outside food? – If you meant birthday cake, yes. The SuperPark party package includes cakeage fee; we brought in our cake from Creme Maison.  For external catering service, do note there will be an additional catering fee of $20 per pax. We highly recommend that you to go with the new SuperPark buffet menu – great choices available plus you will save all the trouble.

We are extremely pleased with the entire party experience as all our guests sang praises on how their kids truly enjoyed the session.

iFly Singapore Indoor Skydiving

The real skydiving?… You must be kidding.  I have toyed with that idea when I was younger but now the kiasee-0-meter in me is 10/10.  The best alternative to experience the feeling of a skydive is to do an indoor skydive.

Being in Singapore is fortunate because iFly Singapore is home to the world’s first largest themed wind tunnel for indoor skydiving, spanning 16.5 feet wide and 56.5 feet tall, almost five storeys high. In addition, it is the only wind tunnel with an 18 feet tall acrylic glass wall offering you an unparalleled view of the South China Sea.

When Lauren turned 7 this year, (iFly only permits children age 7 years and above to fly) we booked a session to try it out.

A short briefing was conducted to guide you on the body posture in the tunnel, followed by fitting-on session of the gears.  Here we go!!

Gearing up at iFly Singapore Lauren in her iFly Singapore indoor skydiving gears

Surprisingly, Lauren did very well as a first timer and a lot of spectators were cheering for her. 🙂 So proud of her. For us, we came out with a little muscle cramp after the session. Probably our bodies were stiffer and our muscles were tensed up when we got in. Overall, superb experience!

Package for First Timer Walk in Rate
First Timer from 7 years-old onwards Rate
The Challenge (2 skydives) $119
The Adventure (4 skydives) $199

We took The Challenge package and Lauren asked for 2 additional flies after the package and with each fly she got better and better…  It was cheaper to order additional flights before your session ended. Just let your instructor know that you would like to add on more flights. Each additional 45 sec session costs $40.

If you are excited by this post, here are some tips for you before you head down to Sentosa.

  • Wear comfortable clothes.
  • Wear well-fitted laced-up sneakers with non marking soles.
  • You might want to leave your jewelry and valuables at home as all such items must be removed before gearing up. Lockers will be provided though.
  • Ladies with long hair are advised to tie up to minimize messy knotty hair. (my hair got tangled up badly so this is important)
  • PLEASE BE ON TIME. You will need to check in 1hr prior to flight time for training and gearing up.

It is cheaper if you book 2 days in advance, book your flights here to enjoy the savings!

Graduating from a Preschool

Most of the children will attend 4 years of preschool before progressing to mainstream.

Lauren had attended Calvary Baptist Kindergarten since Pre Nursery. I clearly remembered the day where I hid behind the walls and watched her from far. Like most of the children, the separation anxiety was there. It was heart breaking for any parent to see their precious little one crying for them and yet they could not do anything because that was for the best for the children.

Time flies and today is the last day Lauren is going to CBK.  I am very grateful to CBK for nuturing Lauren to who she is today. I have to admit there were times where I would debate with the teacher or principal over matter where I couldnt agree upon but that aside, CBK has groomed Lauren to a confident child with all the important virtues.

When I was recording the video of Lauren performing today, my eyes were teary. To see who she has become, I am very thankful and grateful.

Before Lauren will embark on to her next journey, I will like to thank all the teachers in Calvary Baptist Kindergarten who had taught Lauren, Mrs Kueh, 优老师, Mrs Cynthia Lee, 翁老师, Mrs Ruth Yuen and Mrs Violet Chua.  Thank you for giving Lauren her wings to soar. I will like to thank her current Principal, Mrs Pamela Chan. Lauren is happy to see you in school everyday. She told me you are always dancing with all the children and that makes her very happy.  Not to forget her former principal, Mrs Fiona Tan, who made Lauren from an anti social child to her super confident self now. Thank you for sourcing for all the nice outing locations and enrichment programs for the children.

Lauren’s diary are full of wonderful memories about her preschool life.  I now pray that Lauren will be equally happy with her primary school years.

More information of the school can be found here:  Calvary Baptist Kindergarten
